The Cutora Method
Observe. Understand. Control. Refine.
The Cutora Method is a four-step framework for precise decisions on hair: first observe behavior and where weight collects, then understand the real problem, control weight with purpose, and finally refine the result by eye and hand.
Step one
Observe before you remove anything
Study the hair dry or semi-styled so growth direction, where weight collects, how much it moves, and its natural behavior are clear.
Then find the area where weight pressure has built up and is limiting movement or form. No removal yet — the goal is an accurate diagnosis.
Step two
Understand weight before you intervene
After observing, identify what is shaping the hair's behavior — length, density, strand diameter, moisture, growth direction, or weight collecting in a specific zone.
Then decide whether limited movement and form really come from excess weight, or from something else. Only choose the intervention point once the source of weight pressure is clear.
Step three
Control weight gradually
Once you've chosen the point, lift the section at a controlled angle and place the Cutora 6% scissor inside it — where excess weight is limiting movement or form.
Start with one limited cut. Release the hair and check the effect by eye and hand. Add a second cut only if needed. Control should happen step by step — not by over-removing.
Step four
Balance the hair's weight
After every cut, release the hair and reassess movement, balance, form, and weight distribution in its natural state.
If excess weight is under control and natural movement is free, stop. Balancing hair weight isn't about more cuts — it's recognizing the moment weight is balanced and the cut structure is still intact.
